Some requests fall outside of the
NHS services we are commissioned to provide. This includes requests for letters of support or written confirmation for personal, legal or travel purposes.
Examples of Letter Types
The following is a list of the most frequent types of letters that are requested. Please note: this is not an exhaustive list:
Letters to confirm a medical condition for housing, schools or workplace adjustments
Travel with medication letters (for holidays or flights)
Gym cancellations or membership suspensions for health reasons
Insurance claims or accident/sickness reports
Support letters for benefits (i.e. PIP), legal matters or immigration
General 'To Whom It May Concern' letters
How to Request a Letter
If you need one of these letters:
Contact your GP first, as they are usually responsible for providing medical letters and may have a different fee structure too
If your GP is unable to assist, we may be able to help on a case-by-case basis. If approved, the following applies:
A clinician would complete the letter outside of clinical hours
A £60.00 administration fee is payable before collection
We require 28 days from the date of request to provide the letter
We appreciate your understanding as we prioritise
NHS -funded clinical care.
