Continuing care beyond your first prescription or diagnosis.
Many mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions benefit from ongoing treatment and regular review. Treatment doesn't end once medication has been prescribed or a diagnosis has been made. At MHWS , we continue to provide care for as long as it is clinically appropriate and within the scope of the service you are receiving, whether or not any part of that care is shared with your GP.
Depending on your individual needs, ongoing care may include:
The frequency of reviews will depend on your individual circumstances and the treatment you are receiving.
Some Service users receiving ongoing treatment may not require a full consultation before every prescription.
Where this forms part of an agreed treatment plan, Service users may be asked to submit relevant health information, monitoring results or treatment updates between scheduled clinical reviews.
Every submission is individually reviewed by a qualified prescriber. Where any concerns are identified, or further assessment is required, a video or face-to-face consultation will be arranged before treatment continues.
Some treatments require regular monitoring to help ensure they remain safe and effective. Depending on your treatment, monitoring may include:
Your clinician will explain what monitoring is appropriate for your individual treatment and why it is important.
Yes. Specialist review may still be required depending on your treatment and clinical circumstances, whether or not any part of your care is shared with your GP.
Many Service users require regular review appointments as part of their ongoing care. Frequency depends on your treatment and individual clinical needs.
If your clinician believes changes are appropriate, these will be discussed with you and, where relevant, communicated to your GP. Treatment plans are reviewed regularly to ensure they continue to meet your individual needs safely and effectively.
Whether your care continues solely through MHWS or as part of a Shared Care arrangement with your GP, our commitment remains the same: to provide safe, compassionate and high-quality healthcare throughout your treatment journey. See Shared Care Arrangements for more on how we work with GPs where that's appropriate.
