2020, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, saw a sizeable change in the way access to many facilities and services needed to operate. Most, if not all, health services were affected in some way or other.
In line with governmental guidance certain health services were encouraged to continue practicing by utilising technology that enabled consultations and appointments to be carried out at distance.
For our practice, the most appropriate technology is 'Video Conferencing' with some supplementary communication done via 'Voice Calling'.
Utilising 'Video Conferencing', whereby the participants in the conference can see and hear each other, allows us to interact with a client in a similar way as a traditional face-to-face appointment, which clinically is very valuable to us.
The NHSX, the government unit that drives the digital transformation of care, as well as the British Medical Association (BMA) support the use of the following systems for Video Conferencing.

You will need a device, with a camera and microphone such as a PC, laptop, tablet (iPad etc.) or smartphone. Not all software is available for all types of device - so we recommend that you have what you are intending to use installed and tested prior to your appointment.
