Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) aims to promote improved mental health and emotional well-being by supporting the idea of the importance of compassion in our lives. This compassion includes what we give to ourselves, what we give to others and acceptance of compassion provided to us from others.

CFT endeavours to provide a balance between these systems when certain dominance or weaknesses are found. Considering behaviours or responses and the link between our thoughts and these systems CFT helps us to understand, manage and react more appropriately.
CFT can be very affective for those who have low self-esteem, high levels of shame and self-criticism and who have difficulty in feeling warmth toward, and being kind to, themselves or others. Through the learning of tools CFT can help people feel more comfortable, at ease and safe in their interactions with others and themselves.
