Initial Mental Health Assessments
Initial appointments are available to discuss a variety of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depressions, trauma, and phobias, and to consider potential further assessments that may be beneficial. Our expertise is particularly relevant for neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD and ASD, for which screening can take place during the initial assessment. These assessments are undertaken with both the young person and their parent(s) or guardian(s) to obtain a full picture.
Should a pharmaceutical route be agreed as part of treatment, follow up appointments with a MHW specialist are required whilst the appropriate medication and dose are ascertained. Depending on the condition and medication, ongoing prescriptions and monitoring may be provided by MHW or passed over to the care of the young person's GP.
|Initial Assessment||£500||Up to 90 mins|
|Follow Up Appointment||£200||Up to 45 mins|
Standardised assessment techniques, along with detailed history taking and discussions around current presentation and difficulties, are used as part of the ADHD assessment process. We will send out Conners questionnaires for the young person, parent(s) / guardian(s) and a teacher that knows them well to complete prior to the assessment. These are then analysed and used to support the evidence collected during the assessment appointment that takes place with the young person and their parent(s) or guardian(s).
Should a diagnosis be given, and a pharmaceutical approach be agreed upon, titration appointments serve to carefully monitor the physical health characteristics of the young person, along with assessing the effectiveness and any side effects of the medication to reach the best possible outcome. Once they are stabilised on the medication, we can apply for the GP to take over the monthly prescribing of medications, and monitoring will only be required by MHW every 6-12 months.
|Follow Up Appointment (inc. Titration if required)||£200|
A variety of standardised assessments and observations are carried out as part of the autism assessment process. An initial appointment is conducted to gather background information and presentation. We endeavour to make the young person as comfortable as possible to take part in an ADOS 2.
An ADI-R is a parent or guardian interview that gathers evidence from the young person’s early years through to now, and takes on average 4 hours to complete. School / Educational observations are undertaken by our Education Consultant, Angela Willis, and provide insight into the interactions and demands of the educational environment on the young person.
Once all assessments are completed, our team conduct a multi-disciplinary meeting to form the diagnosis and finalise a report. This is then fed back to parent(s) or guardian(s), and can be sent on to GP's if requested.

Complete Neurodevelopmental Assessment
Sometimes following an initial assessment, it becomes apparent that there are multiple (comorbid) neurodevelopmental difficulties presenting. For example: research suggests 20-50% of children with ADHD also have ASD, and that 30-80% of children with ASD, also meet the criteria of ADHD.
